A bleak picture of the future market and the likelihood that auto technician numbers will meet the quantity needed. Another article I read highlighted that 75% of technicians would refer others to work at their shop. This is an interesting statistic in an environment in which culture and pay are frequently painted as inadequate. It could be a case of techs questioning whether the grass is really greener elsewhere. The bottom line is that the technicians that your company needs are probably employed elsewhere and are unlikely to be actively searching for new opportunities.

🔧 Embrace the Journey of Becoming an Automotive Technician 🚗💪Life as an automotive technician can be a challenging road. It's not always smooth sailing, and sometimes doubts can creep in, making you wonder if this is the right path for you. But let me remind you, even the most skilled mechanics were once beginners.Every time you approach a vehicle that needs repair, see it as an opportunity, not just to fix a machine but to refine your craft. It's a chance to learn, grow, and evolve as a technician. The bumps in the road, the complex diagnoses, and the stubborn bolts – they are all part of the process.Just like a car, your journey to becoming a master of your trade may have its breakdowns, but these are the moments that test your mettle and determination. Don't let self-doubt detour you from the road to excellence. Instead, let it fuel your passion for repairs. Remember, every successful technician began as a novice, with a toolbox full of curiosity and a desire to understand the intricate workings of vehicles. So, stay on the path, keep turning those wrenches, and never stop learning.Perseverance is your fuel, and expertise is your destination. Trust the process, and you'll discover that the journey is just as rewarding as the destination itself. 🛠️🏁 #MechanicLife #AutoTechJourney #PassionForRepairs #DriveToSucceed #NeverStopLearning #PersevereInAuto

Mechanics or Technicians?Looking back to when baby boomers were in school, the students who weren’t excelling academically were the ones teachers encouraged to get involved in the trades. The world needs ditch diggers was the mentality. What a terrible precedent to set for those working in the automotive industry!Fast forward to today, students are still being taught they need to go to a four year university if they want to be successful and make good money. Guidance counselors and instructors are stuck in an outdated mindset that if you go to college and get a corporate desk job, then society will consider you to be successful. With fewer teachers and counselors talking about what a career as a technician has to offer, students are no longer excited about or interested in becoming a technician. People just assume automotive technicians will always be around when their car breaks down, if we don’t start professing this in a new light, this valuable career option it will slowly start to disappear, and there will be no one left to fix our cars.I’m not kidding, it’s happening as you read this, change has to happen before it’s too late.

One of the many great things I learned working for Ford: The best way to show a technician you care about them is to invest in their growth. I just finished creating 90 day goals for 22 Entry level technicians. In 90 days, all of our young techs will be closer to becoming a Senior Master Technician. For those that don’t believe in training their techs: Either train them and they’ll make you money, or we’re going to train them to make us money.#bestplacetowork#gaudinmotorcompanyrocks#pathwaytotheshop

Is your EV's performance lacking its usual spark? 🚗✨ The culprit may be the acute shortage of specialized EV technicians 🔧⚡️. With EVs accelerating into mainstream 🌐, our industry faces a conundrum: the demand for skilled mechanics dashes ahead 🏃♂️💨, while the workforce lags, still stuck in the slow lane 🐢.An aging population of experts 👴🔍, coupled with salaries that scarcely reflect their indispensable role, is speeding us towards a cliff edge 📉💸. The EV market's exponential growth demands a battalion of expert hands 🙌🛠️, yet we find ourselves scrutinizing an empty horizon 🌄👀.So, where to from here? Could the solution lie in transforming the image of vocational careers? 🎓✨ Perhaps boosting high-tech allure in EV workshops is the mechanic magnet we need 🔋🛠️. Or maybe, it's time for wages to truly echo the expertise these roles require 💰👩🔧.Apprenticeships could be our golden ticket 🎟️🌟, nurturing a new generation of EV specialists anchored in innovation 🌱💡. Closing this gap isn't just for smooth commuting; it's a keystone in our environmental crusade 🌍♻️.The road ahead begs a question. Are we ready to re-engineer the pathway for aspiring EV technicians before the skill-shortage storm hits full force? ⛈️🔨 Your insights could ignite the change. 🗨️💥#EVindustry #TechnicianShortage #CareerDevelopment

The poll has come to an end and the results are in!📊 Here are a few reasons why the question asked matters:1️⃣ Clarity for Both Parties: Establishing a clear initial contract duration ensures that both parties understand the commitment from the get-go. We are on a mission to recruit more women to train as a motor vehicle technician! Please share this post.North London Garages is passionate about encouraging more women to pursue a career as motor vehicle technician. It's a field where talent, skill, and dedication are more important than gender.Colin Denton, MD said “This can be a great career path for women to follow for so many reasons and we are actively looking for women to train in this industry. There are only around 200 female mechanics in the UK compared to around 500,000 men so we really want to encourage more women consider this as a potential career path”.Here are some reasons why becoming a female mechanic could be for you!Certified training It's a myth that you need high levels of muscle strength to be a car mechanic. There are tools for everything! What is required is someone willing to learn and develop their skills and a ‘can do’ attitude. Over the years, the women we have trained have excelled in understanding how to diagnose faults and fix complex issues. The skills needed to be a mechanic are largely based around problem-solving, and for anyone who enjoys hands-on work and has an aptitude for practical skills, being a mechanic is an ideal career choice.Stable employmentWith the massive shortage of mechanics, this skill is in high demand and offers stable employment opportunities. With experience and additional training, car mechanics can advance to higher positions, such as master technicians and garage managers, or even open their own business. Breaking StereotypesBeing a female mechanic also will undoubtedly offer you a feeling of immense pride as you will be part of a traditionally male-dominated field and, therefore, breaking stereotypes.Overall, being a car mechanic can be a great career choice for women interested in the automotive industry, enjoy hands-on work, and are looking for fulfilling and stable employment opportunities. 🚗 Poll Results Alert! 🚗Last week, I posed a crucial question to our automotive community:"How long would it take your dealership to recruit a vehicletechnician?" A HUGE 54% of you shared that it would take 12 weeks or more tofill this vital role. Let's talk about what that means for your business and the financial implications of an empty ramp for 12 weeks. Based on discussions with both new and existing clients, we've unearthed the average cost of having that ramp empty is £58,500 for 12 weeks. So, here's the real question: Can your workshops afford to losethat substantial amount every quarter? In our conversations, we've discovered that hiring one Venatu contract technician could not only fill the void but also bring substantial benefits. On average, a Venatu contract technician can save you on average a whopping £43,940 of potential lost revenue during that 12-week gap. It’s time to start thinking, its NOT a cost but it’s an investment! #AutomotiveIndustry #WorkforceManagement #BusinessEfficiency #TechRecruitment #VenatuContracttechs #Venatu #Vehicletechnicians
