Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is in the midst of his first season as manager at Stamford Bridge and has stuck by his philosophy despite the frustration of the Blues' fanbase

Enzo Maresca has maintained that his style of football can entertain the Chelsea fans - and claimed he knows no other way to play. The Italian is in the midst of his first season in west London but results have dropped off in recent months.
Maresca chose to step out on his own as a manager when he took charge at Leicester in 2023, guiding them to the Championship title, which earned him the job at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea boss though has seen his side win successive Premier League games just once throughout 2025.
He has copped anger and frustration from the fanbase at times, although Maresca insists he doesn't hear the boos. The west Londoners are blessed with the likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Pedro Neto and their manager is looking to get the best from them, but insists he knows no other way to play.
The 45-year-old said: "First of all, 100%. And then also because I'm not able to do a different kind of style. So, in case, I'm not the one to do a different kind of style."
Maresca has also underlined how different opposition requires his team to play differently, citing the contrasting styles needed to beat a team who sit deep and another who look to attack and press higher up the pitch - even if the core principles remain.

He said: "The only thing I can say is that I think the last six Premier League games at home, we faced Southampton, Leicester, Wolves, West Ham, Spurs and Ipswich. We won five or six and probably the one that the people more enjoy has been the Spurs one. But Spurs was the only team in the last six games at home that they were trying to press higher.
"So, this is the reason why probably we attack more and we attack more quick. But against the rest, that they just wait inside the box, it's a different game. So, we need to learn how to play different kind of games. And then we change. Tactically, we change. Game by game, we change.

"Even during the game, the last game against Ipswich, we start in one way first half and then half-time we change things. So, we try always to give to the players the opportunity to win the game, create chances and try to do the right things."
Chelsea were tipped as potential title challengers back in December as they embarked on a five-game winning run, which saw them close in on Liverpool. However their form has since been hugely inconsistent and they're now in a battle to simply qualify for the Champions League.
