☀As athletes from around the globe gather in Paris to compete in the Olympics, we've been cooking up some fun new challenges in the Active Teams Summer Games. We're going big with more challenges than we've ever run before. We have five individual discipline challenges, including workouts/yoga and swimming. 🚶♀️🏃♂️🚴♀️🧘♂️🏊♀️While the Olympics are all about being the fastest or the strongest, at Active Teams we focus on encouraging staff to spend more time exercising and moving. In the Summer Games, employees can win Decathlon UK vouchers and the more competitive employees can push themselves to win Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. It's going to be a lot of fun watching all the efforts stacking up, good luck everyone.🚀 Learn more about how Active Teams helps employees Move More, Live Better and Work Smarter. https://lnkd.in/e8CEpqym#Olympics, #Paris2024, #EmployeeExperience, #WellbeingAtWork, #EmployeeWellbeing

🌻🚴♀️🌻🚴♀️🌻 Grand Tour Update: With only six days remaining, 'Cheers Ride' from true in Bristol have had a very strong week and moved several places up the leaderboard into first place! We now have teams from True, DNV, UNRVLD, and Triodos Bank in our top five. Will Cheers Ride be able to hold off the competition until midnight on Sunday, or will The Three Wheelers, The Offshore Peddlers, or the Spin Doctors be able to dig deep and take the win...I'm still way behind these riders in terms of mileage, but loving riding the extra miles. I had some extra help from a pacer for ten miles on Saturday. He smiled all the way – which is what this is all about!Well done to our awesome riders including: Mike Smith, Tom Lindsay, Fióna Coyle, Nick Horne, Neil Perry, Charles Thibault, Matt Barnes, Mark Hayward, Elton Ross, Simon Bowker, CGMA ACMA, Graham Faiz, Dan Butterworth, Alastair Polden, Matthew Gaskell, Dillan Perras, Ellen Harrison, Simon Farrar DipPFS, Simon Hodson, Neil Collard, Mauro F., Jonathan B., James Bearne, Zoe Towells, Nick Clarkson, Gareth Lewis, Judy Smith, Rosie Morgan, Mariana Diaz Barrera, Jason Tysoe and Keston Hughes-Jones. 🔥 Active Teams harnesses the power of exercise to create healthier employees and stronger organisations.#TDF2024, #cycling, #EmployeeExperience, #WellbeingAtWork, #onyerbike

So many people are inspired by other peoples' sporting achievements, but it's encouragement at all levels which helps us all to achieve our dreams small and large. My Friday inspiration comes this week in the form of Mahamed Mahamed, who had recently moved to the UK from Ethiopia when the London 2012 Olympics helped to inspire his love of cross country. He joined his local running club shortly afterwards and has trained ever since.Last year he signed his first professional contract after doing an MA. And this year he achieved 4th place in the London marathon (while fasting for Ramadan!!) and as a result will compete in the Paris Olympics this summer. How brilliant to see his old school's headmaster Harry Kutty enjoying Mahamed's success on behalf of their PE department below.Good luck this summer Mahamed!#Inspiration #Olympics #Running #Wellbeing #GetActive

💤🌻🚴♀️ Today is a rest day on the #tourdefrance and the first week has been full of thrills and thankfully not too many spills. The highlight was of course Mark Cavendish winning his 35th stage, beating the record for most tour wins. Mark's first TDF win was 2008! 😲 Back with our Active Teams Grand Tour cycling challenge and the employees competing have ridden almost 2,500 miles in just one week!!! Teams of employees from DNV, Triodos Bank, true and UNRVLD hold the top five positions. But there's still a long way to go, so pace yourselves! The challenge is not really about winning, it's about giving employees the motivation to cycle and exercise more. We find in all our Active Teams team challenges that taking part with colleagues is a huge motivator. While some people have taken to long weekend rides, some riders have been commuting by bike more. My approach has been to wake up earlier and cycle ten miles before starting work. The extra exercise has given me more energy during the day, helped me sleep better and has given my fitness a much needed boost as I return to running from injury. 🔥Well done everyone, keep up the incredible efforts! 🚀 Active Teams – Move More, Live Better, Work Smarter.#TDF, #TDF2024, #EmployeeExperience, #WellbeingAtWork, #EmployeeWellbeing, #OnYerBike

Some end of the week inspiration for you! I'm really looking forward to the Olympics this summer, but as a "normal" person it's good to remember that the Olympian and Paralympian athletes we're going to be watching are just people too, battling to achieve their dreams. We can all achieve great things of differing scales, and this video series "Inspired by Olympians" features clips of "normal" people, Olympians and Paralympians on the journey to achieving their goals. It's a lovely reminder that those journeys have highs and lows, that they often require digging deep, but will have special moments whether we're on the world stage or not. Here's the Marathon Compilation video in full, check out the others too! https://lnkd.in/eF4Ebv3R#Olympics #Wellbeing #Sport #Challenge #Paralympics

I had an early start this morning getting in some miles for my team in the Active Teams Grand Tour team cycling challenge. It's only just started and our members are approaching 1000 miles already. I can't compete with some of the amazing mileage monsters on Active Teams but I'm hoping to contribute about 50 miles per week to my team during the challenge. My plan is get up a bit earlier most mornings and do a 10 mile loop before the family get up. With my normal cycling commutes, I think I can get to about 50 miles a week. Every minute counts! Good luck everyone.🚀 Active Teams: Using the power of exercise and activity to create healthier employees and organisations. Often winning isn't actually about coming first place. Some amazing weekend inspiration here - Alistair Brownlee helping his brother, Jonny Brownlee, over the finish line of the 2016 Triathlon World Series in Mexico.Jonny, who was leading the race at 700m to go when he began to weave across the road suffering disorientation due to the heat, took 2nd place when his brother pushed him over the line taking 3rd place himself.Afterwards Alistair said "I'd have done the same thing for anyone in that position," but couldn't help adding "I wish the flippin' idiot had paced it right and crossed the finish line first." 😆 What a proper champion though!
